I am restoring a large amount of data through the restorer applet on the web console, how could I increase the maximum amount of memory (Java heap size) available to the restorer applet?- Steps:
Please try increasing the maximum amount of memory (Java heap size) available to the restorer applet to 512MB by following the instructions below:
For Java 1.5x / 1.6x:
- Please open the Java Control Panel by first opening the Control Panel, and select Java
- Select the Java tab, and then Java Applet Runtime Setting
- Click on the View button
- Enter "-Xmx512m" (without the quote) into the Java Runtime Parameters box of the JRE version in use
- Restart all browser instances
For Java 1.4x:
- Please open the Java Control Panel by first opening the Control Panel, and select Java Plug-in
- Select the Advanced tab, and select the version of JRE in the Java Runtime Environment
- Enter "-Xmx512m" (without the quote) into the Java Runtime Parameters box and press Apply
- Restart all browser instances

In the cases where the affected machine is running on Windows XP / 2003, if the Java version installed is 1.6u3 to 1.6u5. The following error message may be received:
The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded

The error message indicates that the Java plugin cannot be loaded. To resolve the issue, please roll back to a previous version of Java by:
- Open Control Panel, and select Add or Remove Programs
- Select Java(TM) 6 Update 5, and then Remove
- Attempt the web restore again with Internet Explorer
- The user will be prompted to re-install the Java
- Select Install
Alternatively, you could also perform the web restore on Windows Vista with Java version 1.6u3 to 1.6u5.
